    1. I question whether the authors took the beta exam or the live exam. This book is so heavy on syntax that it completely misses the mark. While it is good to know the syntax and how to do things in query analyzer, this is not what the test is about. None of the GUI tools are covered. This book really falls down when it comes to questions given on the live exam from the perspective of "You're the consultant on site. How would you do this? Or this is what was done, will it work?"If you want t [...]

    2. Pathetic! Hey Garbus! Did you take the same test everybody else did? You focus primaily on syntax. I had a couple of them. You MENTION the GUI applications that use the Stored Procedures. That's what's on the exam! The SP's aren't on the exam. Sure, I can figure out what you are writing about but its an exam CRAM not a "here-is-the-most-efficient-way-to-administer-SQL-Server" lesson from your classes. Hey, guy, if you prefer to work with command-line. Go back to MS-DOS.Do NOT buy book! If y [...]

    3. If you understand all of the information in the book you should be able to pass the test. The current version of the test seems not to care about specific syntax ( unlike the db design test). SO if you ignore those pieces and concentrate on what the commands can do, not how the commands are stuctured you should get enough info from this book to pass.

    4. It's a shame that I waited until the afternoon after I took the test to read these reviews, much less after I bought it. Then I wouldn't have wasted so much time last night going over stored procedures. I did pass the test, but especially in the case of replication, I felt it was in spite of this book, not because of it.

    5. Shame on you Jeff Garbus for passing off this an exam cram. NEWS FLASH: the exam is GUI-based, not command line. No one cares about SQL or ISQL nuances that are no longer true and have nothing to do with passing the exam. Modern admins use the GUI tools

    6. This book is a bad review for SQL Server 7.0. This book is about 99% syntax which is not what SQL Server 7.0 is totally about. I'm not sure if Jeffrey Garbus has ever really seen SQL Server 7.0. either. If he had he would see that it is heavily designed with the GUI interface in mind. This book is not the book to study for the exam. I ordered it from the Coriolis Group store. I hope I can get my money back. The Sybex book SQL Server7 Administration study guide is a much better (and lo [...]

    7. I used Exam Cram to help me pass 5 of my MCSE tests, with great success. Unfortunatly, this one really let me down! This book totally misses any and all of what is covered on 70-028. I ended up reading the Sybex book in order to actually pass this test. If you are looking for a book to help you pass test 70-028, get the Sybex book, not this one. I hope that The Corolis group decided to update this book with some real testing research!

    8. The worst exam cram in the universe. I don't think these guys have any idea about the test or how to prepare for it. Don't even waste your breath asking for the title at the book store, and if somebody hands you a copy for free simply tell them that they can throw it out themselves.
